Hi! I'm Jen, self-taught acrylic landscape artist, living in the village of Cumberland on Vancouver Island, BC. I have 2 kiddos, a part time job, I teach yoga, and in-between those I'm finding *some* time to paint. It's honestly probably just enough time, even though I often wish I had days upon days to paint, Ive discovered that I'm actually the type of person who is more productive with less time. I dive in when I can, and the rest of the time, I just try to be outside, enjoying nature and being inspired by it. 🌿 I grew up, quite literally IN the ocean, in beautiful Nanoose Bay.... snorkeling the long summer days away. I suppose my love of the outdoors may have began there, though I also feel that some things are just a part of you. I still love snorkeling, though these days I spend more time hiking in Strathcona, rock climbing and mountain biking.. I try to surf 😅 but mostly just get thrashed around in the waves, BUT! that feeling of riding a wave in is as good as it gets in this world. 🤙🏻 I started painting in 2009. Ive been using the same water jar since. I have only ever used a plate as a paint pallette, and still have two of my original brushes, which remain my favs:) I paint either on my kitchen counter or my bedroom floor. I have a beautiful big easle, but only ever really use it as a place to put my paintings when im not working on them. My paintings have all been inspired by the wild places ive been fortunate to spend time in, and to this day, Im still incredibly inspired. There is a lifetime's worth of inspiration out there. Truly right in my backyard. Im really grateful for that. So, here are my West Coast inspired landscape paintings... currently working on my first series, inspired by the gorgeous alpine lakes, trees and mountains of Strathcona Provincial Park. 🌿 I'd always love to hear from you if you have any questions, comments or are interested in an original painting or larger reproduction, please send a message my way!
